New Eastbourne Writers are
a friendly, informal writing group, who enjoy writing for all
audiences. If you are interested in writing, either as a complete
beginner, or with an aim to publishing your first novel, then this is
the group for you.
I COULD WRITE A BOOK!
It’s a phrase most of us have uttered at some point in our lives. But when four Eastbourne residents with a
mutual interest in writing got the idea to form a writing group, little did
they know that within just over a year from the launch of New Eastbourne Writers
each of them would have attained their goals.
Marylyn Palmer has just finished her first book – a whodunnit titled ‘Tumbling
Down’ which she wrote for her daughter’s 30 birthday.
Stephanie Blackledge, the only previously
published of the four, has completed her novel “Gathering Dust – The Journal of
a Suburban Stripper”.
Dana London, a
reiki master has recently put the finishing touches to a new Reiki manual.
Jo Valiyi went back to her East End
roots to write her novel ‘Dreams and Dust’.
All four women are hoping to see their work in print in the near future.
If you are a writer or have aspirations to write a book, play, poetry or
any other type of writing, New Eastbourne Writers welcome new members. You can find information on group meetings
and contact details on the website www.neweastbournewriters.co.uk.
NEW EASTBOURNE WRITERS
LAUNCH DAY
The launch of New
Eastbourne Writers, on Friday 24 April
2009, at the Langham Hotel, was a
resounding success far
exceeding expectations. We had well over 100 attendees!
They included writers, journalists, editors, historians,
librarians and
playwrights. A full and diverse
programme had
been planned for the day with well known local authors
speaking about their works, answering questions and signing
books.
They included best selling Australian
novelist Tamara
McKinley, celebrity
biographer Nigel Goodall, novelist
and
writer Edward Thomas and author
and poet Kate Tym.
There were readings by childrens’ author
Ella Harris and
N.E.W. member Dana London as well as a Flash Fiction
writing competition and a Readers and Writers
Raffle
providing something for
everyone.
The feedback received was extremely positive with many
people expressing interest in the new group and
several
attendees signing up to become members.
